Review of Oblivion

Oblivion (Nevermore, #3): Title: Oblivion

Author: Kelly Creagh

Series:  Nevermore book 3

Pages: 448

Genre: Teen

Rating: 5 stars

Oblivion is the final book in the Nevermore trilogy. To me it was the best one of the trilogy. Kelly does something that most author's of trilogies generally cannot do, and that's finish a trilogy strong.  With Oblivion Kelly did that. I enjoyed the fast pace of this novel.  I look forward to whatever else Kelly comes out with.

Not only is Kelly an amazing storyteller, and author she is an amazing person.

Review of The Heir and the Spare

Dreaming Under the Same Moon : Cover Candy, Edition 26: Title:  The Heir and the Spare

Author: Emily Albright

Chapters: 28 plus epilogue
 Pages: 287

Genre: teen chick lit

Rating: 4 stars

Evagline Gray or Evie goes to England for two reasons one to study aboard at Oxford where her parents went as well. As well as finding out about her mother's past. Along the way she ends up meeting Edmund Stuart who just happens to be a prince.

The Heir and the Spare was a cute read. It was a fairly quick read as well. It reminded me a bit of The Princess Diaries.  There is a bit of language in this book as well as British humor, and a few scenes not suitable for young readers.

Review of A Whole New World

A Whole New World (A Twisted Tale #1): Title:  A Whole New World

Author: Liz Braswell

Series: Twisted Tales

Pages: 384

Genre:  Fairy tales retold

Rating: 4 stars

A Whole New World by Liz Braswell puts a twist on the story of Aladdin. With what if Jafar had gotten the lamp first instead of Aladdin. The story spins off from there and goes off on its own unique story.

In Liz Braswell's tell Jasmine is not a sheltered princess who longs for adventure. Instead she's a strong and determined young woman who is going to do whatever she has to in order to get her kingdom back.  Even if it means teaming up with a street rat named Aladdin.

I enjoyed this twist on the story of Aladdin and I can't wait for the next story in the twisted tales series, it's a Sleeping Beauty retelling.

Carlyn Kearney doesn't know if she's a Civil War widow or if her husband is just late coming home. When she is forced from her home she finds a home with the Shakers. However she doesn't really  fit in there. She doesn't really know what to do. The only person that seems to be on her side is the town sheriff.

Review of Code Name Verity

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein: Title: Code Name Verity

Author: Elizabeth Wein

Series: Code Name Verity book 1

Pages: 441

Genre: teen historical fiction

Rating: 4 stars

Code Name Verity is a WWII novel about female spies and female pilots behind enemy lines. There's not much WWII fiction written for teens, and what's out there is mostly about them on the home front. However most of the fighters both in the form of soldiers, pilots and the resistance fighters were 17, 18, and 19 year olds who's stories need to be told. Even if it is in the form of historical fiction.

That's what I loved about Code Name Verity it didn't shy away from the hard stuff. There are two parts of the book told from two different points of view. Which helps to bring the story to life. It is worth the read.

Pages: 448 Pages

Crimson Bound is a fairy tale retelling of Little Red Riding hood, but with a twist. This Little Red Riding Hood is a lost little girl in the woods on her way to grandma's house. Rachelle is a fighter who is determined to save the kingdom whatever the cost. The first half of the book is a little confusing but once you reach the middle of the book it picks up.
