Again</i> is one of the author’s slower paced novel. But it is still a good
read. I have to say that my favorite character was Eliza Landry’s daughter and
Maisy Cal’s dog. Unlike most romantic suspense I preferred romance over the
suspense and mystery because of the slow burn. Because of Landry’s trauma and
Cal’s past. But this book ends up being a great example of God’s plan even when
you think you have a plan and everything figured out.<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />

characters that I have a feeling will be part of the following books in the
series. And of course the North Carolina mountains which is a character in
itself. And it’s hard to imagine this book taking place anywhere else. And of
course, small town life at its best where everyone is family.<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />

towns. Ashley was as easy heroine to love and relate too. I loved how she
remembered her mom with showtimes. I’m the same way when I’m missing my mom
expect its classic rock and cheesy 80s movies. And reading Ashley’s point of
view makes me thankful for my dad.<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />

have to admit I loved this one more than I thought I would. Though Rogue
untouched is my favorite in this series because Rogue will always be my
favorite Marvel heroine. I did enjoy <i>Mockingbird Strike Out</i>. I love the
spy aspect in this one. Not to mention seeing Hawkeye in a different light. But
I love that it focused on Bobbi Morse AKA Mockingbird AKA Agent 19. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"><span style="background: white; color: #222222; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Even
though this wasn't a cannon comic but a novel it had me looking at Bobbi in a
new light. I hate to say it but she's better than Black Widow. And
I just have to say that the MCU robbed comic fans. We could have Mockingbird
but instead we only get them hinting at her in a TV show because the writers
added characters in Age of Ultron, and they later had to fix a plot hole. </span><o:p></o:p></p>Carissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02161144492587350634noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2133957483496469954.post-75028158175259308562024-02-26T06:00:00.006-05:002024-02-26T06:00:00.337-05:00Hawkeye: Bishop Takes King by Ashley Poston review <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_l8ZElBGby-bZQDnbPJjIun03jTmOz-DeEqXDsMnxDvb44fjhgiNjH-rLzhK6PG0yjRcZ8ww9koGYHVD5S_PUMqYUXbLV5g-nPsQ4sW9xiLVMqvRi5AGH_RNkgMkGBsEW703Zcd40ImFJbvUT5jqxC3yRmqRBvUub0J6gL6EmT5GJwD-HC8HAGSngGj6p/s500/Hawkeye.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="338" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_l8ZElBGby-bZQDnbPJjIun03jTmOz-DeEqXDsMnxDvb44fjhgiNjH-rLzhK6PG0yjRcZ8ww9koGYHVD5S_PUMqYUXbLV5g-nPsQ4sW9xiLVMqvRi5AGH_RNkgMkGBsEW703Zcd40ImFJbvUT5jqxC3yRmqRBvUub0J6gL6EmT5GJwD-HC8HAGSngGj6p/w270-h400/Hawkeye.jpg" width="270" /></a></div><br /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12pt;">Title: Hawkeye: Bishop Takes King</span><p></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;"><o:p></o:p></p>

Hawkeye comics I could that had Kate Bishop in it, I still wanted more Kate.
Because I'm not holding out hope that the MCU is going to give us the young
Avengers. And I got more Kate in this one. Hawkeye: Bishop Takes King is
the perfect combination of the comics and the TV show. Kate in the book is more
like TV show Kate and the glimpses we get of Clint is more comic Clint than
either MCU or TV Show Clint. But what I loved most is seeing grow and
become more of herself. Though Lucky stole the show. </span><span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12.0pt;"><br />

novel by Rebekah Millet. It’s a second chance romance and those tend to not be
a favorite of mine. But I did enjoy this one. It just took a bit for me to warm
up to it. As it took me a bit to warm up to Samuel Reed. Normally I love
military and veteran heroes, but like Julia Monroe, it took me a bit to forgive
him for things he had done in the past. I'm not going to give away what
he did but for me it’s definitely something while I would forgive in real
life it wouldn’t lead to a second chance in real life and it's something I
judge on a case-by-case bases with characters I read. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; text-indent: .5in;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-font-kerning: 0pt; mso-ligatures: none;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>While the romance didn't really keep me
turning the pages it was the secondary characters and sense of community that
kept me turning the pages. Not to mention I'm a sucker for a good Louisiana
setting. And I loved the pop culture references that were sprinkled throughout
the book. And parts of Julia's mom reminded me so much of my own
mom. The faith content in this one was chef's kiss. And even I'm not Julia's
age I'm closer to her age than the 20s something heroine's we normally get in
contemporary romance so I'm glad to see an older heroine. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

River Series by Patricia Bradley and I have to say that it’s my favorite in the
series so far. We meet the hero Mark Lassiter in the first book in the series
so this is indeed a series that one needs to read in order. Mark is a K-9
officer for the county. He's also an Army Veteran and sniper who this
reader is convinced he has PTSD. But it's his faith that helps to make him a
good hero. </span><span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-thickness: initial; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;" />

suspense suspenseful with a hint of romance. Mark was the perfect romantic
suspense hero not perfect he had his flaws, but he was a good man trusting God.
And with Mae this book shows just how far the love of a grandmother goes for
her granddaughter. I loved the faith content I just wished we knew where Dani
was on her faith journey.</span><span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-thickness: initial; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;" />

Frantz’s most emotional book to date, at least to this reader. Because of my
own Acadian ancestry. Sylvie Galant is French Acadian in Canada when England
and France are on the brink of war. But the Acadians just want to live in
peace. I love Sylvie’s relationship with her siblings, especially Bleu. William
Blackburn is the ranger sent to remove Sylvie’s fellow Acadians. And somehow,
they both end up in colonial Virginia.<br />

faster paced books. There’s never a slow moment in the story. This one is also
the most diverse book from this author. Previous books have included both main
and secondary indigenous characters this one includes a look at enslaved
peoples in colonial Virginia if only from secondary characters. And the author
writes it in a way that flows naturally to the story.<br />

And if
you don’t like the third act twist this might not be the book for you. And of
course, the author knows how to write the colonial equivalent of a mean girl.
William Blackburn finds himself as my second favorite hero and Sylvie my
favorite heroine.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; text-indent: .5in;"><span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-font-kerning: 0pt; mso-ligatures: none;"><br /></span></p><div class="adn ads" data-legacy-message-id="18cfa88d6ab51a7c" data-message-id="#msg-a:r3981696247971997498" style="background-color: white; border-left: none; color: #222222; display: flex; font-family: "Google Sans", Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;"><div class="gs" style="margin: 0px; min-width: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; width: initial;"><div class=""><div class="ii gt" id=":14k" jslog="20277; u014N:xr6bB; 1:WyIjdGhyZWFkLWE6ci0zNzc0OTI5MTE0MDczMTE3MTkzIl0.; 4:WyIjbXNnLWE6cjM5ODE2OTYyNDc5NzE5OTc0OTgiXQ.." style="direction: ltr; font-size: 0.875rem; margin: 8px 0px 0px; overflow-x: hidden; padding: 0px; position: relative;"><div class="a3s aiL " id=":14j" style="direction: initial; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-feature-settings: normal; font-kerning: auto; font-optical-sizing: auto; font-size: small; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-position: normal; font-variation-settings: normal; line-height: 1.5; overflow: auto hidden; position: relative;"><div><div class="yj6qo"></div><div class="adL"><span style="color: #181818; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 16px;">I received a copy of this book from the publisher I was not required to write a positive review. Or at least I didn't feel like I was missing anything from the first book. I'm
a sucker for time-travel novels even though I'm not a huge Outlander fan. What
sets this book apart from other time traveler novels is the fact that the
heroine travels to future from Jane Austen's England. And meets our hero
a 21st Century student who low and behold is studying female writers from the
time period she's form. And since I love a good nerdy hero he was perfect
for me. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

accurately written. Because women and girls are the frontier weren’t damsels in

homesteading a ranch. almost didn’t pick up <i>Dirty Thirty </i>because the last few books in the
Stephanie Plum series had fallen flat. And had either been not up to previous

picked this one up because it felt like some of the earlier books again. And
the stake out in this one. There is indeed someone worse to go on a stake out
with that grandma mazer. And of course, reading words that I never thought
would come out of Ranger’s mouth.</span><span style="background: white; color: #181818; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

understand why authors writing WWII fiction tend to stay away from stories from
the south Pacific and the Marines because of what the US did to end the war.
But by not writing those we are missing indigenous readers from seeing
themselves as heroes and heroines in WWII fiction. And let’s face it without
the Code Talker s we could have easily lost the war.</span><span style="color: #222222; font-family: "Courier New"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;"><br style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; mso-special-character: line-break; orphans: 2; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-thickness: initial; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;" />

Lee was the perfect author to write this book, being indigenous herself. She
brings to love Mary Wishram a Yakima tribal member and military truck driver.
And John Painted Horse a Navajo who goes on to be a code talker. She did an
excellent job balancing facts with emotion and this ended up being the second
book in this series that I loved. And her author note at the end adds to the
story. I look forward to more books by Debby Lee and more WWII fiction focusing
on the Marines.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
