I’m technically cheating as we are
suppose to stick to one Christmas Memory for this but I’ve got two. One of
which kind of ties into this book. A Christmas
memory that also became a Christmas tradition was being able to open a present
on Christmas Eve that ended up being new Pajamas. We would then eat popcorn
from the new popcorn tin mom would buy, and then my sister and I would curl with mom on the couch to watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas followed by Mickey’s Christmas Carol with
Hot Chocolate. Before bed mom would read THE
CHRISTMAS STORY, and ‘Twas the night
before Christmas.
Another Christmas memory was seeing
how many of the guys from my dad’s unit would find themselves around our
dinning room table for Christmas Eve dinner. My parents had a standing invitation
for any one in my dad’s military unit who couldn’t get home for Christmas and
had anytime feel that day they were welcome at our house for dinner fellowship.
My mom’s favorite saying was, “No one spends Christmas alone it I can help it.”
My current Christmas plans this
year as its our second Christmas without our mom and papaw, and first without grandma.
And dad has to work he’s a firs responder. My sister and I have plans to go to
the movies and then meet dad for Chinese food.
And leading up to Christmas we will go to this thing in our town with
underground Christmas lights.
For future Christmas plans is if it
does happen is to simply continue the Christmas traditions my mom started for
me and my sister with my own kids and any nieces and nephews I may have. The new pj’s on Christmas eve. Christmas
movies. But more importantly my favorite one of a new ornament every year.
