Beyond a Reasonable Stout by Ellie Alexander the third book in the Sloan Krause series, takes us to Leavenworth Washington in the quiet season.  Oktoberfest is over but the hustle and bustle of the Christmas markets haven’t started yet.  Sloan is also hoping that the quiet time also means no murders. But she’s wrong and finds herself involved in trying to solve another murder.

     This one was my favorite of the series so far. I guess because it’s the one in which the village is preparing for the winter season. And since Leavenworth is supposed to be like a German village this one gave me German Christmas feels. Though I would love to see one of the books in this series be set during December and the Christmas market season.  Each of these books just gets better than the last. I look forward to the next book in this series.

The Pint of No Return is the second book in the A Sloan Krause Mystery series by Ellie Alexander. We return to the town of Leavenworth, Washington for the town's Oktoberfest which despite its name actually happens in September not October.  As the very first Oktoberfest was in celebration of a German Barron's wedding. Leavenworth Washington is an actual real town in the US that does indeed look like a German village.  

Brewmster Sloan is enjoying working and brewing beers for Nitro. All the while dealing with family issues when she stumbles across another dead body. This time a movie star, Mitchell Morgan who was filming a documentary about microbreweries and beer festivals.  It's up to Sloan to find the murder and save the festival. 

I enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series. I love the German village feel of Leavenworth as well as Sloan as a female brewer in a man's world.  This is a page turning cozy that's different from other cozy's I've read.   I believe this series is the only cozy series that focuses on the world of mircobrewing with a female brewer. But this one is great for people who know the community and enjoy a good food cozy.  I look forward to more books in this series.
