Don't Keep Silent

Title:  Don’t Keep Silent

Author:  Elizabeth Goddard

Ch: 64

Pg:  358

Series: Uncommon Justice

Genre:  Christian Romantic Suspense

Rating: 3.5

Publisher:  Revell

Don’t Keep Silent by Elizabeth Goddard is the third and final book in the Uncommon Justice series. It focuses on the third McKade brother Liam and Rae Burke. And I have to say that even though it was still a good read it was my least favorite of the series.

It took me a while to read because even though I was enjoying it while I was reading it. I didn’t enjoy enough to want to pick it up as my first choice to read. I ended up finally finishing it in a day because I had finished everything else I had read.

The suspense and setting were awesome as were the secondary characters were awesome as was Liam the hero. But the heroine Rae drove me nuts m. But another than that it was still a nice wrap up to the series. I think other fans of the series will enjoy this one I just think I read it at the wrong time.

Live In Love

Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life's Changes by Lauren Akins | Goodreads

 Title:  Live In Love

Author:  Lauren Akins

Ch: 18 plus Prologue and afterword

Pg:  336

Genre:  Memoir

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Publisher:  Ballantine Books

Live in Love is a memoir by Lauren Akins the wife of Thomas Rhett. I’m a sucker for memoirs I just wish I had listened to the audiobook which is read by Lauren and her husband. But reading the print version was still good.

Lauren writes about before and after her marriage and she doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff. She’s shares the ups and downs. I finished the book in a couple of days because I didn’t want to put the book down.

I recommend this book to country music fans and fans of celebrity memoirs.

Until I Met You

Title:  Until I Met You

 Author:  Tari Faris

 Ch: 19

 Pg:  336

 Series: Retoring  Heritage

 Genre:  Christian Contemporary Romance

 Rating: 4.5 Stars

 Publisher:  Revell

Until I Met You by Tari Faris is the second book in the Restoring Heritage, and I loved this one than the first one in the series. Just like the first book in the series it focuses on two couples which I hadn’t found in any other books. The main characters Librarian Libby Kingsley and Austin Williams. Along with Nate and Olivia. Since book one I had been wanting to read Nate’s story and I now get the chance.

I loved that Nate story is told along with his brother Austin’s because it works at adds more to the story. This book not only gives us two love stories and romantic relationships we get a sibling relationship.

Libby was a girl after my own heart determined to give her new town a real library. Not to mention her hobby of wanting to visit every Carnegie library. That’s on my bucket list. I also love the awesome first date one of the heroes takes the heroine on is a date I would love.

The main theme of Until I Met You is forgiveness and it’s something that applies to all of the characters and even the reader can learn from.

This book had some of my favorite quotes in it. I look forward to the next book in the series as well as anything else Tari Faris writes.

Thread and Dead

 Title:  Thread and Dead

Author:  Elizabeth Penney

Ch: 27

Pg:  288

Series: Apron Shop 2

Genre:  Cozy Mystery

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher:  St. Martin’s Press

This is second book in the Apron Shop mystery series. Iris and her grandma have gotten their apron ship up and running in their Maine hometown when Iris finds herself involved in another murder mystery.

This is as a quick read. And I enjoyed this one more than the first book in the series. I think it’s because the characters have been established and so has the characters and unlike the first book in series I didn’t guess the murderer so that was nice. I loved the small town Maine setting. It gave me all the small town feels. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. And anything else by the author.

The Christmas Swap

Title:  The Christmas Swap

 Author:  Melody Carlson

Ch: 17

Pg:  163

Genre:  Christmas Romance, Rom Com

Rating: 3.5 stars

Publisher:  Revell

I’m a sucker for Christmas movies and books. From the beginning of November till the end of December I’m curled up with a blanket reading Christmas books. So when i read the burb about a house switch during Christmas I knew I had to read this one.

I know the house switch trope has been done before, but Melody Carlson brought her own unique twist to it. In which the house switch becomes one sided but only one party knows that.

I enjoyed this sweet Christmas Rom Com in book form. It was a quick read that I finished it in a day. This book is great for those who love hallmark movies and rom coms and Christmas.

The London Restoration

The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan | Goodreads

Title:  The London Restoration

Author:  Rachel McMillan

Ch: 30

Pg:  315

Genre:  Historical Romance

Rating: 5 stars

Publisher:  Thomas Nelson

The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan answers the question I’ve always asked at the end of a book or when the movie credits roll what happens after the happy ever after or the wedding. This book focuses on the couple after the wedding and what happens after a couple separated by war are reunited

Not only do Diana and Brent have to figure out how to rebuild their lives together and separate but they have to come to terms with Diana’s secret life in the war. While around them the city of London figures out how to rebuild. And even through churches were bombed they weren’t destroyed.

I loved The London Restoration. A strong and capable heroine who still wants the hero in her life. And a redhead nerdy hero my favorite kind of hero. Brent is one of my favorite historical fiction heroes and the fact he’s nerdy professor with red hair doesn’t hurt. But he’s a flawed hero scares both inside and out from the war. Showing that even in WWII there’s no such thing as uninjured soldiers even the ones who never fired a weapon. Brent is showing symptoms of PTSD even if that wasn’t the name of it. Making him even more realistic and even more loveable in my opinion. And love Diana even more because she doesn’t run away.

All of Rachel’s books are awesome but The London Restoration shows that her authors heart is with historical romance and I for one can’t wait for The Mozart Code and any other historical romance from her.

Dead in the Doorway review

Dead in the Doorway (House-Flipper Mystery #2) by Diane Kelly | Goodreads

 Title:  Dead in the Doorway

Author:  Diane Kelly

Ch: 35

Pg:  323

Series: House Flipper Mystery

Genre:  Cozy Mystery

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher:  St. Martin’s Press

Dead in the Doorway by Diane Kelly is the second book in the House Flipper mystery series. I enjoyed this one more than the first one in the series and I think that it’s because with this one it’s because the main characters are established. It’s more plot and mystery based than character building. Though my favorite part of the book is the chapters from Sawdust’s point of view. Sawdust who just happens to be Whitney’s cat. This one is a quick read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

The Portrait of Loyalty

Title:  A Portrait of Loyalty

Author:  Roseann M White

Ch: 29

Pg:  384

Series: The Codebreakers book 3

Genre:  Christian Historical fiction, Christian Historical Fiction

Rating: 5 stars

Publisher:  Bethany House Publisher

Lily Blackwell is photographer who’s using her skills for the war effort and Zivon Marin fled Russia after the Revolution now he’s using his skills to help Britain’s war effort.

The two couldn’t be more different he’s a man without a country and she’s the daughter of a British Naval Captain. But maybe just maybe both their skill sets can help win the war and lead to more and just maybe Lily and Zivon have more things in common than they realize. But forces beyond their control his enemies from Russia and an unknown illness are working to keep them apart.

As a lover of history including Russian history I always wondered what happened to the Russian citizens loyal to the czar and the royal family who weren’t royal after the Russian Revolution. A Portrait of Loyalty gave me a glimpse of one possibility.

As an American I really didn’t learn about WWI in school as it’s a war we weren’t involved in for very long. So it was nice that A Portrait of Loyalty and the other books in the series gave a glimpse behind the scenes so to speak of the men and women working in Room 40 to help end the war.

Lily Blackwell is a skilled photographer a woman in a men’s field using her talent to help the war effort. It was nice to read about a character that shared my love of photography. That’s what I loved about A Portrait of Loyalty and the Codebreakers series as a whole. It’s the part that Woman played in the war effort. And not just as nurses. Though there was a small scene in the novel that paralleled what’s currently happing in the world. As sad as I was to see the Codebreakers series end I enjoyed this book and the characters. And I feel like the book had an ending that wrapped up the book and the series.

This is one series that you really do need to read in order: A Number of Love which had my favorite heroine, On Wings of Devotion my favorite hero and finally A Portrait of Loyalty with my favorite couple. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. And as always I look forward to Roseanna M Whites Next book.

A Portrait of Loyalty

He sees patterns in what she deems chaos.
She sees beauty in a world he thought destroyed.

Zivon Marin was one of Russia's top cryptographers until the October Revolution tore apart his world. Forced to flee to England after speaking out against Lenin, Zivon is driven by a growing anger and determined to offer his services to the Brits. But never far from his mind is his brother, whom Zivon fears died in the train crash that separated them.

Lily Blackwell sees the world best through the lens of a camera and possesses unsurpassed skill when it comes to retouching and re-creating photographs. With her father's connections in propaganda, she's recruited to the intelligence division, even though her mother would disapprove if she ever found out.

After Captain Blackwell invites Zivon to dinner one evening, a friendship blooms between him and Lily that soon takes over their hearts. But both have secrets they're unwilling to share, and neither is entirely sure they can trust the other. When Zivon's loyalties are called into question, proving him honest is about more than one couple's future dreams--it becomes a matter of ending the war.
