Review of The Reckoning

When Morgan Shaw crept into the hold of a pirate ship replica at San Diego’s Tall Ship Festival, she only wanted to avoid the guy who had just dumped her, not wake up aboard a real pirate ship three-hundred years in the past. Nor cause Captain Rowan to lose the prize he is chasing. Yet when she accidentally divulges Rowan’s secret to a longtime nemesis, events are triggered that could cost them both their lives and change the course of history forever. Coming July 2015!: Title:  The Reckoning

Author: Marylu Tyndall
Series: Legacy of the King's Pirates

Chapters: 32

Pages: 330

Genre: Christian Historical fiction, Christian Historical Romance Pirates

Rating: 5 stars

The Reckoning is the fifth book in The Legacy of the Kings Pirate series by Marylu Tyndall.  Morgan Shaw is a girl in the 21st century that somehow finds herself on a pirate ship in the Caribbean. Rowan Dutton believes that he has to be pirate in order to make up for what he put his sister through.  As a modern girl Morgan's not making it easy on Rowan.

It's to believe that two people born basically three hundred years apart would ever find common ground. But the banter between Morgan and Rowan is one of the things that make the story.

I love pirate novels and time travel. So I was thrilled when Marylu Tyndall my favorite author of pirate story had written a time traveling pirate novel.  But not only was that it part of my favorite series of hers.  I enjoyed this novel it's my favorite book of The Legacy of the Kings Pirate series. While I can't pick a favorite pirate hero of Marylu's Morgan is my favorite heroine.

Review of The Ransom

The RANSOMTitle: The Ransom

Author: Marylu Tyndall

Series: Legacy of the Kings pirates book 4

Chapters: 38

Pages: 405

Genre: Christian Historical pirates

Rating: 5 stars

The Ransom is the fourth book in the Legacy of the Kings Pirates series. It takes place awhile after the first three.  Juliana Dutton is trying to run her father’s shipping business without anyone knowing, as a woman it’s not something that is done. Alex Hyde is a man caught between two worlds, that of nobility and being a pirate.  He is both the pirate earl and Lord Munthrope. He is also the son of Edmund Merrick and Lady Charlisse which means being a pirate is in his genes at least to a point.
Once I started reading The Ransom I couldn’t put it down. I just had to know what happened next. Pirate stories have always kept me on the edge of my seat. Wanting to know what happens next. But most of them are so dark, so I am thrilled that I found Marylu’s Legacy of the king’s pirates. I love that she writes Christian fiction with pirates who often end up being the hero. Even if Christina fiction with hero pirates seems to be a little weird I still love the books.

The Ransom is now my favorite of the series. Juliana is not your typical heroine in pirate novels. She beautiful and smart, and  if her family trouble weren’t enough she has to fight off  what seems like three suitors one of whom she hates but others would see as a catch, one everyone sees as a few and a third a dangerous man and pirate she should stay away from but she just can’t. At first I didn’t think I would like this one because it was set so long after the first three, but I ended up loving this one.  I cannot wait for the fifth book in the series.

Review of The Restitution

When Isabel Ashton’s son is kidnapped, she has no one else to turn to but Captain Kent Carlton, the pirate who sired the child in a violent act. Still holding onto her dreams marrying a nobleman and returning to her privileged social class, she spurns the repentant pirate who will do anything to win her forgiveness as they both risk everything to rescue their child.Title: The Restitution

Author: MaryLu Tyndall

Series: Legacy of the Kings Pirates Book 3

Chapters: 32

Genre: Christian Historical fiction

Rating: 5 stars

The Restitution is the third book in the Legacy of the Kings Pirates.  This book has mention of the hero and Heroine from the first two books, but they aren’t actually in this book.   Lady  Isabel Ashton the secondary heroine from book two is the main character in this book.  Isabel’s young son is kidnapped by pirates and she is forced to turn to the one person she never wanted to see again. Her son’s father Captain Kent Carlton.  He’s a pirate and she doesn’t think that she can trust him, but he might just be her last hope.  Kent has always been seen as the villain by most people including Isabel and he can’t blame her she has every reason to see him as such.
So far this is my favorite in the series, but that might change when I read the fourth one. With this book you don’t know who’s the hero or the villain.  The Restitution gives new meaning to the phase you can’t judge a book by its cover, because you cannot judge the characters by their looks or what they say.

All I can say is that The Restitution keeps you guessing on what was going to happen next.  Which was a good thing. It  keep me reading.  The Restitution also raises the question can a pirate be a hero? I leave you to find the answer yourself.

Review of The Reliance

The Reliance .Title: The Reliance

Author: MaryLu Tyndall

Series: Legacy of the King's Pirates series book 2

Chapters: 41

Pages: 334

Genre: Christian historical fiction, pirates

Rating: 5 stars

The reliance is the sequel to The Redemption but happily ever after hasn’t come easy for Edmund Merrick and Charlisse. Their love and faith will be tested in this sequel.  An old enemy returns to try to tear the couple apart.  I enjoyed this book, because Charlisse seemed to be stronger in this one, and her faith was stronger after it was tested.  I love how Marylu’s books focus on God and Jesus as well as faith.
There are returning characters in this book but there are even new characters like Lady Isabel Ashton, who becomes the new damsel in distress.

This is the second book in the Legacy of the King’s Pirates that I have read and the sixth book that I have read by Marylu and I cannot believe that I didn’t start reading her books till this year. I’ve missed out.

Review of The Redemption

The Redemption (Legacy of the King's Pirates Book 1) - Kindle edition by MaryLu Tyndall. Religion Spirituality Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com....Title: The Redemption

Author: M.L. Tyndall

Series: Legacy of the King’s Pirates book 1

Chapters: 47

Pages: 317

Genre: Christian Historical/pirates

Rating: 5 stars

Lady Charlisse Bristol wants to find her father, Edmund Merrick is a pirate for the crown. They are searching for the same man but for different reasons. They both end up finding some much more.

The Redemption is the first book that I have read by Mary Lu and I am wondering why it took me so long to read. As a child and a teen I loved pirates. I mean my two of my favorite books as a child were about pirates. The Redemption has both pirates and faith. I love that Mary Lu wrote about a Christian pirate, a pirate that is trying to turn his life around. I also loved that faith is intertwined in the story and is a huge part of the story. A story that wouldn’t be complete without that.

I cannot wait to start reading the next book in the LEgecy of the King’s pirate series as well as other books by Mary Lu Tyndall.
