I’m not going to lie I didn’t like Shadows at Dusk as much as the first one in the series. Mainly because I didn’t really like Carrie for the first half of the book. And the bit of romance between her and Trevor felt rushed. But I did like Trevor.

I also liked the Alaskan setting and the two mysteries in the story. Wanting to find out about Trevor’s sister and solving the murder is what kept me turning the pages. And I did enjoy learning more about the Alaskan wilderness. I am looking forward to the third book in the series.

Into the Fire by Irene Hannon review

Irene Hannon is one of my go to in Christian romantic suspense and Into the fire is no different. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with a former female smoke jumper turned arson investigator. And an ATF agent. I love both Bri and Marc from the start.

And I enjoyed the unique murder aspect of the crime. It’s not something I’ve read in suspense fiction before. And it leads itself to being a page turner. The mystery and crime keep the reader turning the pages. But seeing Bri with her siblings and Marc with his Nana come you coming back. Those sweet moments balance out the harsher suspenseful moments of the book.

I love forward to the next book in the series and what else is next for Irene Hannon.

Crime Scene Conspiracy by Jessica R Patch

The first time I read Jessica Patch was with A Cry in the Dark and that book gave me nightmares. The book is no worse than a Criminal Minds episode which is my comfort show. But the setting of A Cry in the dark hit too close to home. But that aside I loved the book and had me hooked on Jessica’s writing.

So I knew I had to jump at a chance to Crime Scene Conspiracy. I loved the Texas setting and Texas Ranger Emily O’Connell. And crime scene clean up guy Stone Spencer was pretty cool too. While I read this one in September it’s actually a suspense set at Christmas. I loved the banter between Stone and Emily. As well as him accepting Emily for the strong and confident woman she is heck I think it makes him love her more. And just like Jessica’s previous suspense books the book has more suspense than romance which I love.

Better Watch Out by Natalie Walters review

As someone in which Die Hard is a much watch Christmas movie, yes, I’m weird but it’s what happens when you are the daughter of a Marine. Natalie Walters gives me the Christmas suspense rom com I didn’t know I was missing with Better Watch Out. I loved Frannie and meeting Andrew as well as seeing old favorites. And it doesn’t that Andrews a former hockey player I’m finding I’m looking that hero type of my rom coms lately. And it’s got my favorite meet cute ever cause I could see it happening to me.

No one does suspense like Natalie and now she dipped into Christmas rom coms with suspense and I’m here for it. And New York is the perfect setting for a romantic suspense involving mistaken identity and a Christmas adventure because nothing is like Christmas in New York. Oh don’t forget the pepper spray.

If you are like me, you are going to love all the references to classic Christmas and slight poking fun at hallmark movies you’ve gonna love this one. Better Watch out is going to become a Christmas book I reread every year.

On Moonberry Lake is the debut novel by Holly Varni. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. As I tend to be ifffy about books dealing with the death of the characters mom. It can go one of two ways good or really bad. On Moonberry lake went very good. As grief effects everyone differently. And the book showed that.

Cora was my favorite because she was the one, I related to the most. But Widgy is a close second as well as the characters in the small town. Though the small town is in Minnesota it’s easy for anyone who spent time in a small town to relate to. Because every small has fill in the blank.

I can’t wait to read the next book from Holly.

The fall back plan by is my favorite of the Sweater Weather series so far. I loved the small-town fall feel. And it didn’t hurt that it had some of my favorite troupes. slight enemies to more. Single father. And small town.

Jolie was a relatable character as a nerd and book lover. As well as what she went through in high school. And then the hero Lucas high school boy turned town sheriff single father is swoon worthy.

However, the real hero of the book at least in this readers opinion is Mrs. Herring the town librarian.

This is the perfect fall rom com complete with banter, humor and second chances.

 

Just Dont' fall by Emma St. Clair review

I’m not normally a fan of the fake dating trope and brothers best friend trope. But I’m a huge sucker for a good hockey rom com. Logan Barnes is a hockey player kicked back to the minor leagues of hockey for his behavior and fighting. Parker Douglas is the social media manager for the team and the little sister of Logan’s high school best friend.

This one took me a bit to get into. But once I did, I did enjoy it. It was hockey that hooked me. While it wasn’t a favorite, I do look forward to the rest of the Sweater Weather series and more books by Emma St Clair.
