Review of That Old Flame of Mine

Title: That Old Flame of Mine

Author: J.J. Cook

Series: Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade Mystery

Chapters: 34

Pages: 292

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Rating: 4 stars

That Old Flame of Mine was a neat cozy mystery set in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in the fictional town of Sweet Pepper Tennessee. Stella Griffin was injured on the job in Chicago and needs a break from work takes a job as acting fire chief in Sweet Pepper in order to train the volunteer fire fighters.
While there she encounters a mystery and finds family she never knew that she had. It was an interesting and different read and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Review of Sandwich with a side of Romance

Title: Sandwich with a Side of Romance

Author: Krista Phillips

Chapters: 40 Plus epilogue

Pages: 319

Genre: Christian Chick lit

Rating: 5 stars

Maddie Buckner has a past one that she is not happy about but she is now a new person in Christ. The one thing that she wants most is to get custody of her little brother Kyle. To her Reuben Callahan is standing in the way. That is because he got her fired from her job. He tries to make up for it by offering her a job in his restaurant.

Sandwich, with a side of Romance is a sweet romantic read. That was different than any other Christian romance I have read. Unlike most where the hero has a past, this one the heroine has a past, even though it was different it was a good different. It was nice to see that even though the heroine had a past she was forgiven in Christ and had a chance at a happy ending.

Review of Send me a Sign

Title: Send Me a Sign

Author: Tiffany Schmidt

Chapters: 50

Pages: 371

Genre: Teen real life issues

Rating: 4 stars

Send Me a Sign is about Mia Moore and how she is dealing with cancer. By pushing all of her friends and boyfriend away.  Her best friend and neihghor Gyver Russo will not let her push him away.  If he had it his way they would be more than friends.  Send me a Sign is a pretty good read that deals with real life teen issues and doesn’t shift away from the tough stuff.

Review of Operation Oleander

Title: Operation Oleander

Author: Valerie O Patterson

Chapters: 21

Pages: 187

Genre: Teen real life issues military brats

Rating: 4 stars

Operation Oleander was a book that hit home with me a little bit. The novel centers on a military base and the kids or military brats growing up on the base.   How the kids have to deal with the issues that come with having a parent in the military.  I could relate to the kids because I was raised as a military life, and it’s not an easy way to grow up but I wouldn’t have changed it for anything.
