You're Gonna Love me

You're Gonna Love MeTitle: You're Gonna Love me

Author: Robin Lee Hatcher

Series: Thunder Creek

Chapters: 31 plus epilogue

Pages: 306

Genre: Christian Romance

Rating: 4 stars

You're Gonna love me is the second book in the Thunder Creek series by Robin Lee Hatcher of which the first I liked but didn't love at least not enough to pick up the second book. That is until I discovered the title of the book.  You're Gonna Love Me, a title that just happens to share the title of my favorite love song. I even loved that the song was played in the story.
Samantha Winters and Nick Chastain have a past together they dated and it ended badly to say the least. Only Nick doesn't remember much of their relationship. A kayaking trip which ended in Nick having a traumatic brain injury.  The same trip that lead to Nick and Samantha break up.  Nick has moved to Thunder Creek Idaho for a new job and basically a new life.  His injury and the memory loss that goes with it doesn't allow him to teach anymore. Samantha ends up back in Thunder Creek help her grandma after an accident.
Nick doesn't know what to think we he literally runs into Samantha in her grandma's hospital room when he goes to visit. He never thought he would see her again.  Both Samantha and Nick have a lot to learn about God and trusting him. Nick with his brain injury and Samantha with her fear of losing those she cares about.
It was nice seeing Derek and Brooklyn in this one and visiting more with Ruth Derek and Samantha's grandma.  I love how close Samantha was close to her grandma reminds me a bit of the relationship I have with my grandma.  I'm curious to see where this series is going to go or if this one is the last one.

Not Yet Unsung

A Note Yet UnsungTitle: A Not Yet Unsung

Author: Tamera Alexander

Series: Belmont Mansion book 3

Chapters: 40

Pages: 430

Genre: Christian Historical fiction/ Christian Historical romance

Rating: 5 stars

What's a young woman who just happens to be a master violinist to do when she denied entry to the Nashville Philharmonic, just because she's a woman? If you're Rebekah Carrington and Nathaniel Whitcomb the young conductor who turned you down you do what you can to prove him wrong.  You end up working as a music teacher for the children of Miss Adelicia Acklen Cheatham mistress of Belmont Mansion.
What neither Rebekah nor Nathaniel realize is that they both need each other in order to make their dreams come true along with God.

A Note Yet Unsung by Tamera Alexander is the third and final book in the Belmont Mansion series. It's my favorite of this series and not just for the musical aspect I love good violin music. I am a violinist myself though not good enough to play in an orchestra. I also loved the love story.  I hate to say it but I love hate to love, love stories.  I am looking forward to reading the final book in the Belle Meade series next and whatever books Tamera Alexander has in the future.

A Song Unheard

A Song UnheardTitle: A Song Unheard

Author: Roseanna M. White

Series:  Shadows Over England book 2

Chapters: 29

Pages: 403

Genre: Christian Historical fiction/Christian Historical Romance

Rating: 5 stars

Can a young woman be both a violin prodigy and a top-notch thief?  With Willa Forsythe in A Song Unheard Roseanna M. White answers yes. That's what Willa is, she belongs to a "family" of thieves but thieves who only y still from those who can afford to lose something.  Lukas De Wilde is  famous violinist who wants to find his family who was left behind in Belgium while he finds a way to protect the key to break his father's cypher.  Both Willa and Lukas realize that there is more to each other than meets the eye.  Both will do whatever it takes to protect their families.  They may come from different worlds but they both love their families.
As much as liked A Name Unknown I loved A Song Unheard even more. I loved the twist about the key to the cypher.  The romance in this one was a bit of hate to love. But the disagreements  between to couple was cute. It added to depth to the story and allowed the reader to see different sides to the characters.  Love at first sight for both characters wouldn't have worked for this story.  One of the characters personality and who they were would have gone completely against who they were.  Who would have thought music could be used to help fight a war.

Letters to the Lost

Cover Love | Edition the FirstTitle: Letters to the Lost

Author: Brigid Kemmerer

Series: Letters to the Lost

Pages: 400

Genre: teen/ teen real life issues

Rating: 5 stars

In Letters to the Lost Juliet Young is dealing with the loss of her mother by still writing letters. Only these letters don't get mailed. They get left at her mother's grave.  Declan Murphy works at the graveyard as part of his community service for a car accident. When he discovers the letters that Juliet wrote.  The two soon been writing back and forth to each first through letter at the graveyard then through emails. And Declan discovers that Juliet was writing letters to her mother because she didn't know any way to cope with losing her mother.  Juliet is a shell of her former self. She's given up photography as well as her photography class at school and any activities involving photography.  It was something that she shared with her mother.
Letters to the Lost was the perfect book to read at the time I read it. I finished reading May 6, 2017 just before the year passing of my mom. Like Juliet I didn't know how to get over losing my mom and also didn't really know how to cope either. And after reading Letters to the Lost I realized my mom wouldn't have wanted me to stop doing the things I loved just because she was gone. I also discovered that writing letters to my mom that I kept in a journal it helps.
Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer dealt with grief in a way that perfect and heartfelt. Though it was geared towards teens I feel that anyone can get something out of it.

January Wrap Up

In January I read a total of 6 books and 2379 pages. Two Christian Historical romances, One Christian romance, a classic, one teen chick lit book and a cozy mystery. Got a decent start on my Goodreads challenges.  My TBR pile started the month off at 40, I read one book from my TBR pile which knocked it down to 39. However, I ended up buying two books this month with my Christmas money. So now it's back up to 40. Even though I bought 2 because I've already read one of the books I bought The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz, and started the other:  Batman:Nightwalker by Marie Lu.

  • 1. A Song Unheard by Roseanna M White
  • 2.  Lucky in Love by Kasie West
  • 3.  You're Gonna Love Me by Robin Lee Hatcher
  • 4.  The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz
  • 5.  Mansfield by Jane Austen
  • 6.  Many a Twist by Sheila Connolly
