Review of The Year of Luminous Love

Title: The Year of Luminous Love

Author: Lurlene McDaniel

Chapters: 47

Pages: 363

Genre: Teen chick lit, real life issues

Rating: 4 stars

As a teen I read Lurlene McDaniel’s One last novels among others. While The Year of Luminous Love is similar to her earlier novels it is also different. It is edgier and I would say that it is geared more towards older teens. But it was still a good read.

Review of Victim of Grace

Title: Victim Of Grace

Author: Robin Jones Gunn

Chapters: 11

Pages: 205

Genre: Non fiction

Rating: 5 stars

In Victim of Grace Robin Jones Gunn shares personal stories that show how we are all victims of God’s grace and that is a good thing. I really enjoyed the book. I also found it neat that some of Robin’s personal life and stories ended up in her books

Review of The Rules for Disappearing

Title: The Rules for Disappearing

Author: Ashley Elston

Series: The Rules for Disappearing

Chapters: 30

Pages: 312

Genre: teen chick lit

Rating: 4 ½ stars

In The Rules for Disappearing Meg Jones not her real name is in the Witness Protection program because of something her father did or saw. At least that is what she thinks.  This new placement has them in a small town in Louisana Meg’s plan is to not get attached. But that plan falls to the wayside when she meets Ethan Landry. Ethan is your typical southern country farm boy complete with accent.

Meg works up a plan to get her family out of the mess that they are in. Ethan also comes up with a plan who’s plan will actually work?

The Rules for Disappearing is good book, I really enjoyed reading it. The ending was good, a good ending but also left it open for a possible sequel. For a mainstream teen novel it was really pretty clean. A few issues with swearing and other inapproiate teenage behavior. But still a good read.

I was given an e-copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Review of Insurgent

Title: Insurgent

Author: Veronica Roth

Series: Divergent book 2

Pages: 525

Genre: Teen Dystopia

Rating: 5 stars

Insurgent picks up where Divergent leaves off. Almost exactly where Divergent leaves off. Tris and Four have to figure out where they go. The cannot go back to the way things were before. Their only hope is in the future. There is more twist and turns in the second book in the series. Insurgent keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first page to last page.
A teen book hasn’t affected my emotions as much as Insurgent did. To me Insurgent was even better than the first book. The book ended in a cliff hanger that really does leave you hanging. I cannot not wait to October to read the final book in the series. I have no doubt that it will be just as good as the first two books in the series.

Review of Paige Torn

  Title: Paige Torn

Author: Erynn Mangum

Series: Paige Alder

Chapters: 19

Pages: 291

Genre: Christian Chick Lit

Rating: 5 stars

Paige Torn is the newest by Erynn Mangum, and she does it again. Paige Torn is another great book by Erynn. However I may be slightly bias because I’ve loved all of her novels and novella’s. Erynn writes characters that one relates to. As well as the right balance of humor and Faith. Paige torn is no different. I like that fact that Erynn writes chick lit. I love that fact that she writes Christian chick lit. With her main characters being in their 20’s makes for great reading for this 20 something.

Paige Torn is the first book in the Paige Alder series. Just happens to be my favorite novel and character. While I liked Lauren from the Lauren Holbrook series and could relate to parts of Maya’s life in the Maya Davis series. I find that I can relate to Paige because after reading Paige Torn I find that I am Paige and like Paige I do have a hard time saying no.

In Paige Torn Paige Alder is a twenty two year old college graduate who works at an adaptation agency as a secretary. She feels that her singleness as time for service. Unfourntally Paige cannot say no to anyone, to point where she barely has time to read her Bible let alone eat dinner. At 22 she doesn’t want to get married let alone date. That’s when she meets Tyler a guy who helps with the youth at Church. Can God use Paige’s coworker, best friend and Tyler to show her how thin she is spreading herself?

Another winner and I cannot wait until October for book two Paige Rewritten. At least I don’t have to wait a whole year.

I brought the book and the review is my own thoughts.
