I have to say while not my favorite book by the author I still enjoyed it. I didn’t really like the heroine Catriona at the beginning. Sara the heroes daughter was actually my favorite character. And Donal was such a sweetheart but then I’m a bit of a sucker for the single dad troupe. But the heroine did redeem herself by the end.

I’ve seen readers saying this is a love triangle book, but I didn’t get that vibe even though there’s two guys in the story. That doesn’t mean love triangle that means the author wants to kept the readers on their toes and continuing to read.

    If anyone can get me to enjoy a Cinderella retelling, it’s Jennifer Deibel with her newest book The Maid Ballymacool. If Jennifer writes it and sets it in Ireland, I’m going to read it.

    The Maid Ballymacool is set in 1930s Ireland and Brianna Kelly is a maid at a boarding school. Who’s pretty much much treated like Cinderella and her only friend is Finnuala who is like a grandma fugue to Brianna.

    And Michael Wray the hero is the son of a neighboring landowner. But Michael is so much better than any Prince Charming in a fairytale because he is a man of faith and sees Brianna’s worth.

    The Maid of Ballymacool is a faith filled Cinderella like retelling set-in beautiful Ireland and it’s also a book I finished in one day.

I’ve always loved the legend of the Claddagh ring and it’s my favorite piece of jewelry. And I love that The Lady of Galway Manor by Jennifer Deibel brings to story to life with the Jennings family the fictional family behind the legend. The novel takes places just before the Irish war for independence fully kicks in.

Lady Annabeth De Lacy the daughter of the English landlord becomes an apprentice to the Stephen Jennings. They are complete opposites he’s Irish she’s the daughter of an English lord. He’s given up on love and she still believes in true love and happy ever after.

Though out the pages of The Lady of Galway manor I felt like I am walking down the streets of the village of Galway, and I could almost taste the fish and chips. Which left me carving fish and chips luckily there’s a pretty good Irish pub in my town. And apparently, I drink my tea the Irish way.

Though I enjoyed the slow burn romance between Anna and Stephen it was the secondary characters that helped make the story. Her sister Emma was wise beyond her years. But my favorite character was Seamus Stephen’s dad was my favorite character I loved his wisdom and how he lived his faith. He reminded me of my papaw.

The Lady of Galway Manor will transport you to the Emerald Isle in its pages.

I loved A Dance in Donegal the debut novel by Jennifer Deibel. I enjoyed the Ireland setting that I’ve never read before. The secondary characters were a delightful bunch. The Irish Gaelic  language sprinkled throughout took a little getting used to, but once I did it only added to the story.

Moira was not only the heroine but she was also my favorite character as well. She was easy to relate to. I could see myself in Moira especially the emotions she was going through after losing her mom. It’s a process and after almost five years since I lost my own mom I don’t even think I’m there. It was nice to see if only in literature someone rekindling her faith after losing a mom.

The thread of romance in the story didn’t take away from the story it only added to it. And if I can’t visit Ireland in person right now I can visit in the pages of a book.

I look forward to Jennifer’s next book and I have a new author to add to my autobuy author list.
