Review of Joy to the World

Title:  Joy to the World: A Regency Christmas Collection

Author:  Carolyn Miller, Amanda Barratt, Erica Vetsch

Pg: 336

Genre:  Christmas, Christian Historical fiction, Christian Historical Romance

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher: Kregel Publications

Joy to the world is a Christmas Novella collection set in the Regency period. Which is a time period that outside of Jane Austen I don’t really read. But I did enjoy this one. And while I liked Heaven and Nature Sing by Carolyn Miller and Wonders of His Love by Erica Vetsch. My favorite was Far as the Curse is Found by Amanda Barratt which gave me Beauty and the Beast with faith feels. All in All this was a sweet Christmas novella.

Rebel Rose review

 Title:  Rebel Rose

Author:  Emma Theriault

Ch: 30 Plus Epilogue

Pg:  345

Series: The Queen’s Council book 1

Genre:  Beauty and Beast retelling, Fairytale retelling, sequel

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

Rebel Rose by Emma Theriault is a book that I didn’t know that I needed. This is the what happens after the Beast and Belles happily ever after at the end of Beauty and the Beast.

What I love about this book is that it also ties on the historical time period of the French Revolution. But by making Belle and the princes kingdom a neighbor of France instead of part of that kingdom.

The Belle in this novel is how I pictured Belle being in her role as the wife of the prince being. Having either a crown or a title wouldn’t change who Belle truly was. Even more that the cartoon and movie the Belle in this book is an even stronger role model for girls.

Belle was and is still my favorite Disney Princess and Rebel Rose makes me love her even more.

Candy Cane Crime review

Title:  Candy Cane Crime

Author:  Amanda Flower

Ch: 12 plus epilogue

Pg:  84

Series: Amish Candy Shop Mystery 5.5

Genre:  Cozy Mystery

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher: Kensington

Candy Cane Crime is a between the novels novella in the Amish Candy Shop mysteries series from Charlotte’s point of view. I enjoy this little novella’s because Charlotte is Bailey’s Amish cousin who happens to be just as much a sleuth as Bailey. I enjoyed this one as it takes place leading up to Christmas, and Charlotte has a mystery involving her to solve. That will lead her to finally make a choice about her future.  It ends with charlotte knowing where’s she’s leaning but the reader is left with a cliff hanger and kind of like that part since it’s such a short book. Anything else would have seemed rushed.

A Very Merry Holiday Movie Guide review

Ch: 16 Plus Conclusion

Pg:  217

Genre:  Nonfiction

Rating: 4.5 Stars

A Very Merry Holiday Movie Guide by Rachel McMillian was the book for me and I knew it as soon as I read what it was about. From the middle of November till the end of December you can find me curled up on the couch with a fuzzy blanket hot cocoa or tea with either a Christmas book or a hallmark Christmas movie on tv.

The only time of year that I tend to watch rom coms by choice. I guess the quickest way to get me to watch a rom com is to have it set at Christmas time. Rachel’s book is the perfect book for fans of Hallmark Christmas movies it’s the perfect book to go with those movies. This book helps to add to your viewing experience. I love each chapter to explain the different types of Christmases.

I got my love for Hallmark Christmas movies and Christmas Rom Coms from my mom. She was never one for rom coms but as soon as the Christmas movies our tv stayed on the Hallmark channel. But after losing her four years I haven’t watched any Hallmark Christmas movies in the last four year. But this year after seeing the new movies including Christmas in Vienna i watching them again. And this book has given me a backlog list of movies. And my favorite chapter in the book is indeed the Christmas homebody chapter.

If you love Christmas rom coms and Hallmark movies then you need this book.
