Rebel Rose review

 Title:  Rebel Rose

Author:  Emma Theriault

Ch: 30 Plus Epilogue

Pg:  345

Series: The Queen’s Council book 1

Genre:  Beauty and Beast retelling, Fairytale retelling, sequel

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

Rebel Rose by Emma Theriault is a book that I didn’t know that I needed. This is the what happens after the Beast and Belles happily ever after at the end of Beauty and the Beast.

What I love about this book is that it also ties on the historical time period of the French Revolution. But by making Belle and the princes kingdom a neighbor of France instead of part of that kingdom.

The Belle in this novel is how I pictured Belle being in her role as the wife of the prince being. Having either a crown or a title wouldn’t change who Belle truly was. Even more that the cartoon and movie the Belle in this book is an even stronger role model for girls.

Belle was and is still my favorite Disney Princess and Rebel Rose makes me love her even more.

Beauty's Rose Review

Beauty's Rose by Shonna Slayton | GoodreadsTitle:  Beauty’s Rose

Author: Shonna Slayton

Series: Fairy-tale Inheritance book 4

Chapters:38

Genre: fairy tale retelling

Rating: 5 stars

Publisher:  Amaretto Press
Beauty’s Rose by Shonna Slayton is a Beauty and Beast retelling set in France during the 80s. And I have to say that it is one of my favorite Beauty and the Beast retelling that I’ve read. Margot was an easy character to relate a slightly awkward bookworm.
I enjoyed finding little bits in the story that reminded me of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast even though the retelling isn’t based on the movie. As well as bits from other versions of the story.
Though it’s part of a series this one can be read as a stand-alone. Reading this book it almost feels like you’ve been transported to a village in France.   I’ve always loved the story of Beauty and the Beast I mean what’s not to love about a nerdy girl that stays true to who she is.

I received a copy of this book from the author . I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Review of As Old As Time

As Old as Time (Twisted Tales #3) by Liz BraswellTitle: As Old as Time

Author: Liz Braswell

Series: Twisted Tales book 3

Pages: 496

Genre: fairy tale retelling

Rating: 4 stars

In As Old as Time Liz Braswell propose a twist to the Beauty and The Beast story with a retelling in which Belle's mother was the enchantress who cursed the beast. However the reader knows (it's in the blurb of the book) this but none of the characters in the story know this.  However other than that little twist and the twist that comes when Belle discovers the rose, it is pretty much the same Disney storyline with no characters added. Though the ending is different.
With this story you do get a little bit more of the beast's back-story, but not that much. Most of the back-story that you get is about Belle. You get to see her childhood and you discover at least from Liz Braswell view of why it's just Belle and her father.

I enjoyed this retelling but I didn't love it. It's a great twist on the classic story. It is also the third book in the twisted tales series. Liz Braswell also had two others out.  A Whole New World a twist on Aladdin and Once Upon a Dream a twist on Sleeping Beauty. Coming in March 2018 is Reflection  Elizabeth Lim a twist on Mulan.

Review of Roses

RosesTitle: Roses

Author: G.R. Mannering

Series:

Chapters: 29 in five parts

Pages: 311

Genre: Teen fairy tales retold

Rating: 4 stars

Beauty has sliver skin and violet purple eyes
Beast

Roses is a Beauty and the Beast retelling that has elements from the classic fairy tale as well as the Disney movie. I have yet to see a Beauty and the Beast retelling that have combined the two.

Out of all the Beauty and the Beast retellings I have read this one is my favorite. I love how the author doesn’t give the her a name other than beauty. To help it stick to the  actual fairy tale but still unique.
