Pumpkin Everything is a sweet romance and a rom com in book form. That I wasn't sure
what i was going to get because it's a main stream romance. But I enjoyed
it. Amy Fox has returned to her hometown with a case of writers block and a
canceled wedding to care for her grandfather's who's suffered an injury. As
writer whose based her characters off people in her hometown granted a town she
never thought she'd return to she's in a bit of bind. And to top it
all off she can't stand the smell of Pumpkin spice not good in a town that
loves all things autumn.
What drew me to the book
was the title and the fact that Amy doesn't like the smell of pumpkin spice and
as someone who hates pumpkin spice everything I was drawn to the
character. It was also nice to read a seasonal novella that was set
in Autumn which is something you don't see very often. That
While this is a main stream romance it's more on the sweet side
than steamy and relatively clean (things are implied)
but it happens off the page. I do look forward to reading the next
one in the series Maple Sugar Crush which is set at Thanksgiving. From what I
can tell both can be read as standalone.

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Boston
scream murder is the fourth book
in the Deputy Donut mystery series by Ginger Bolton. This one is set at
Halloween making it the perfect cozy mystery read for this time of year.
I
also love that the title reflects the donut shops donut of the month instead of
Boston Cream donut it’s a Boston scream. And always I enjoyed the characters
and the mystery and I was even more thrilled that the suspect remained a
mystery until Emily herself figured it out. I look forward to the next book in
the series.

Author: Irene Hannon
Ch: 27 plus epilogue
Pg: 378
Series: Triple Threat book
Irene Hannon has done it
again. She's written a Christian Suspense that I couldn't put
down, but also didn't want it to end. Point of Danger is the first book
the Triple Threat series.
When Eve Reilly starts receiving threats because of
her radio show Police detective Brent Lange will do his
best to protect her.
Irene Hannon has been
one of go to authors for Christian Suspense since I discovered her writing
after being introduce to Christian Suspense as a genre by author Dee
Henderson. What keeps me coming back to Irene's books is the balance that
she gives to the suspense and the romance. With her books the suspense is the
main focus with the romance subtly woven through the story.
Which is how I tend to like my suspense and Point of Danger is no
different. I look forward to the next book in the series as well as any
more suspense from Irene Hannon.

Title: The Conqueror
Author: Bryan M. Litfin
Pg: 512
Series: Constantine's Empire book 1
Genre: historical fiction
Rating: 2 stars
Publisher: Revell
I wanted to love this
book, because the Roman Empire in the AD time period was one of my favorite
parts of "ancient" history that starts to border on the dark
ages. As Rome is still expanding their empire. But the book and the story
itself I didn't like. I didn't care for how woman were written in the
story. I know authors who write history try to be accurate
to history but to me there has to be a balance. Not to
mention that this historical fiction novel read a little like a nonfiction
novel.
Even though I didn't
like this book there were things I did like such as the glossary in the
beginning that made understanding terms found in the book so much easier.
I also liked that he two main characters were from two different worlds so to
speak. That the book focused one a Roman citizen and Germanic barbarian to show
just how far the Roman Empire was expanding.
And even though I
didn't love this one or even enjoy this one, there's a reader out
there that will love this one. And that's the beauty of reading that not
every book is for every reader, but there is a book for every reader.

Goodnight Moo by Mollie Cox Bryan is the second book in the A Buttermilk
Creek mystery series. I enjoyed this one. I loved the small town farm
setting and I think this series is one of two series that I've read of a cozy
mystery set on a farm. I loved visiting Brynn MacAlister and her
cows again.
This cozy mystery let
me go to a county fair (in the pages of a book since real county fairs were
cancelled this year.) It's great that even in this crazy year we can
still travel in the pages of the books. I can't wait for the next book in
the series.

Title: Murder on Pleasant Avenue
Author: Victoria Thompson
Nurse
on Pleasant Avenue is the 23rd book in the A Gaslight mystery series by
Victoria Thompson. An historical mystery series set in New York at the turn of
the 19th century into the 20th century. Though each mystery is a standalone
it’s best to read the series in order otherwise you miss out on the
relationships that develop throughout the series.
This
one was one of my favorite books in the series. And I was thrilled that
something happened that I was hoping would happen since at least book 16. I’m
looking forward to the next book in the series.

Ever
Faithful The third book on the Vintage National Park series by Karen Barnett
and my favorite of the series. It’s also the only one in the series set during
the Great Depression. Set at Yellowstone National Park in the 30s with the new
Civilian Conservation Corps. Nate Webber is a Brooklyn “kid” who finds himself
in Yellowstone as part of the CCC. Elise Brookes is a rangers daughter who
wants to be a teacher.
These
two come for different worlds but somehow that’s what makes them work. While
another suitor for Elsies hand tries to make plans for them both Nate doesn’t
want to come between Elise and her dreams. He wants her to have a future
because he doesn’t feel like he has one.
This
book was proof that you can’t choose a book by its cover nor a person on how
three look on the outside or where they are from.
I
think that why this was my favorite was because it included the CCC which was
what my great grandpa was a part of the 30s and like Nate he was the old man of
the group as he was on the older side. But the program allowed him to get an
education including learning to read. So even though he wasn’t from Brooklyn
Nates story was similar to his. I went back and forth with reading and
listening to the audio for this one because I loved hearing abated Brooklyn
accent.
I
didn’t want this series to end but I did enjoy this one. As I wait for Karen’s
next book I’m going to get caught up on her back list.
I
think readers who enjoy historical fiction and nature and the outdoors will
love this one.

"The Only thing Bri Duval loved more than romance was perfectly executed French macaron"
Title: The Key to Love
Author: Betsy St. Amant
Ch: 28
Pg: 336
Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance
Rating: 5 Stars
Publisher: Revell
Bri
Duval is a hopeless romantic Gerard Fortier is anything but. However the bakery
she works at goes viral thanks to the love lock wall and the matchmakers who
own the bakery put them on the path to meet when travel writer Gerard is sent
to cover the wall the matchmakers and the bakery. The two main characters
couldn’t be more different but that’s what makes for such an interesting story.
That
while this is Bri and Gerard story it’s the secondary characters that stood out
the most to me. Though I did love Bri’s and Gerard’s banter though not everyone
will. I love how the secondary couple show Bri and the reader that love isn’t
always perfect that more often than its messy.
Mabel
and Agnes the bakery owners and matchmakers reminded me of a couple of older people
at my church that love to play matchmaker even when the person they are trying
to match up doesn’t want it.
I
generally don’t cry when I read romances and even made it to chapter twenty
five before i started crying. Mr. Mac was the character that brought tears to
my eyes when he told Bri what he told her in chapter twenty five. I should have
known that it would be the Marine in the book who would bring tears to my eyes.
Mr. Macs love story takes the Marine Corp motto Semper Fidelis to an even more
personal motto for Mr. Mac he’s also the character that i picture my dad being
like at that age for many of the same reasons makes that part of the story
personal for me.
I
love this book and I didn’t want it to end. Not to mention that the author made
me cry and that’s not an easy thing to do.
Readers
who are fans of Betsy’s previous books as well as Becky wades Bradford sisters
series and Jessica Kate will enjoy this book. And those who love Hallmark
movies will love this book.
I received a complimentary copy The Number of Love from the publishers. I was not required to provide a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

“Today was a new start, and this time running back home wasn’t
an option.”
About the Book
1906 – Lady Elizabeth "Libby" Sinclair, with her love of microscopes and nature, isn’t exactly a hit in society. She flees to the beautiful Isles of Scilly for the summer...and stumbles into the dangerous secrets left behind by her holiday cottage’s former occupant, also called Elizabeth, who mysteriously vanished.
Oliver Tremayne—gentleman and clergyman—is determined to discover what happened to his sister, and he’s happy to accept the help of the girl now living in what should have been Beth’s summer cottage…especially when he realizes it’s the curious young lady he met briefly two years ago, who shares his love of botany and biology. But the hunt for his sister involves far more than nature walks, and he can’t quite believe all the secrets Beth had been keeping from him.
As the two work together, along with Libby’s maid—his cousin—they find ancient legends, pirate wrecks, betrayal, and the most mysterious phenomenon of all: love.

The
Librarian of Boone’s Hollow by Kim Vogel
Sawyer has two things I love in fiction libraries and my home state as the
setting. Set in 1930s depression Kentucky Addie Cowherd takes a job as a pack
horse librarian in Boone’s Hollow through she dreams of being an author. But
she’ll do what she has to do to help her parents. Emmett Tharp grew up in
Boones Hollow where your either mine coal or run moonshine. (which was true for
Kentucky and the time period) he got out to get a degree but because of the
depression jobs are few and far between so he’s back home.
I’ve
been fascinated by the pack horse Librarians since I learned about them in my
fourth grade unit on Kentucky history. These typical local women who would ride
horses or mules or sometimes walk miles to get their neighbors reading
material. They were heroes and accepted because they were from the area. That’s
why Addie being rejected for being an outsider didn’t shock me.
This
wasn’t the first historical fiction novel I read about the WPA Pack horse librarian
program that goes to Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin that I read
back in 2011 but The Librarian of Boone’s Hollow is my favorite.
And it holds the title for a library housed in a location I’d never seen
before. Addie though not a local takes the job for many of the same reasons the
real women did for money to help their families out.
Kim
Vogel Sawyers books are either hit or miss for me I’m glad this one was a hit.
I think fans of historical fiction and libraries will love this one. As well as
fans of Lynn Austin’s Wonderland Creek.
