Take a Chance on Me review

Take a Chance on Me (Misty River Romance) by Becky Wade - BookBub
Title:  Take a Chance on Me

Author:  Becky Wade

Series: Misty River 0.5 Novella

Chapters: 9

Pages: 98

Genre: Christian Contemporary

Rating: 4 Stars

Publisher: Bethany House

Take a Chance on Me is a prequel novella to the Misty River series. Penelope Quinn has one rule when it comes to dating no Airman a rule she created after a few friends had bad experiences dating Airman. It was Penelope stereotyped a whole group because of the actions of a few.

Air Force fighter pilot Eli Price is determined to get her to change her mind and give him a second chance.

I’m not going to lie it took me a while to warm up to Penelope and I think it was he view of Airman. I’m not saying that she and her didn’t have bad experiences but She lumped them all Together because of the actions of a few.

I guess personal experience as a military kid it’s been the opposite I’m not saying that there’s not and a few bad apples but the good ones still outweigh the bad.

I still enjoyed this sweet novella and can’t wait to read more about Sam in the first book in the series.

Sweet on You review

Sweet on You by Becky Wade | Waiting on Wednesday & Can't Wait WednesdayTitle:  Sweet on You

Author: Becky Wade

Series: Bradford Sisters Romance book 3

Chapters: 27 Plus Epilogue

Pages: 381

Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance

Rating:  5 Stars

Sweet on you is the third book in the Bradford Sisters Romance and we finally get Britt and Zander's story.  Which I've been waiting for since book one.   Zander's been a favorite character since the beginning. A rough around the edges nerd who's been in love with his best friend. Britt took some warming up to.  It took a while for Britt to grow up even though at twenty-seven she's been an adult for a while.

Both Britt and Zander have things to deal with in their past. Things that they have to let go of in order truly embrace what God has in store for them. Like the first two books in the series there is a mystery that Zander and Britt get involved in.   Britt mainly because she doesn't want Zander to have to deal with it on his own.
I can always count on Becky Wade to deliver a sweet romance that’s not too sweet.  Though this one deals with actually sweets. Britt has her own chocolate shop.  Becky's book are great if you like sweet romance that isn't sickly sweet.  Though most of her heroes start out slightly rough around the edges.

Review of Falling for You

Falling for You (A Bradford Sisters Romance, #2)
Title: Falling for You
Author:   Becky Wade
Pg:370
Series: Bradford Sisters Romance book 2
Genre: Christian Contemporary
Rating:  3.5 stars
Falling for You is the second book in the Bradford Sister’s series by Becky Wade. This book while technically a standalone book in a series it still best to read them in order. This book focues on oldest sister Willow who’s a model taking a break from modeling to run her family’s bed and breakfast. When finds herself face to face with former NFL Quarterback Corbin Stewart who just happens to be her ex-boyfriend.
Corbin wants a second chance and Willow wants nothing to do with him, she’s put that part of her life behind her. But then the two end up working on a project to help a teenage girl solve a missing person’s case. They both realize that they both played a part in their relationship falling apart.
Even though I enjoyed this one I didn’t love it as much as the first book in the series. Two me this book kind of had a bit of second book syndrome. It was still good I just didn’t love it. But I all still looking forward to the final book in the series as well as anything else Becky writes.

Review of The Christmas Heirloom

An heirloom brooch connects four generations of Christmas romance! In Legacy of Love, Sarah returns a lost pin. In Gift of the Heart, Ruth uses it for collateral. In A Shot at Love, a hunter captures Fleeta's heart using the ornament. And in Because of You, Maddie rediscovers the antique. Will it bring her love?Title:  The Christmas Heirloom: Four Holiday Novellas

Author: Karen Witemeyer, Kristi Ann Hunter, Sarah Loudin, Becky Wade

Pages: 384

Genre: Christmas family sagas

Rating: 3.5

The Christmas Heirloom is a collection of Christmas Novellas that follows a brooch that is passed down to the women in the family.  In the first novella Legacy of Love by Kristi Ann Hunter Sarah Gooding is a a companion to an elderly lady.  A job that lead to love all because she returned a brooch.  Sarah and the woman's grandson is what starts this family journey and legacy first in England and then to United States.
Karen Witemeyer's novella Gift of the Heart takes us to Texas with widow Ruth Albright with a story that is a bit a retelling of the story of Ruth from the Bible. Ruth will do anything to keep a roof over her daughter's head, even giving up her family heirloom brooch in order to do it.
In A Shot at Love by Sarah Loudin Thomas Fleeta Brady is a bit of a tomboy who prefers hunting and being outdoors to more lady like chores. After losing both her parents she's given up on love.  But her mother's brooch and another hunter mite just have other ideas.
The final novella in this bind up is the Contemporary  one by Becky Wade Because of You. That is set in the world of Bradford Sister's Romance series. Maddie Winslow who works for her friend Britt Bradford has found herself falling for her friend's widower Leo and his adorable toddler son. She keeps fighting her attractive  because it's not right. Then the heirloom brooch reappears and someone makes their feelings known.
This was a fairly quick novella collection read. I liked the stories but Because of You was my favorite mainly because it is part of the Bradford Sister Romances series and I was already new characters. All in all a quick read. With a slight Hallmark channel Holiday movie feel.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

True to you

True to You (Bradford Sisters Romance #1)Title: True to you

Author: Becky Wade

Series: Bradford Sisters Romance book 1

Pages: 373

Genre: Christian Romance

Rating: 5 stars

True to you is the first book in the Bradford Sisters Romance by Becky Wade. Nora Bradford is a genealogist who loves researching people's families and helping them find answers. Former Navy SEAL John Lawson needs to find his birth family in order to find out about his inherited condition.   True to you was a sweet story and an even sweeter romance.
Even though I miss the Porter series I loved this first book in the Bradford Sister. Nora has become my favorite heroine of Becky's. Not only is Nora a genealogist and I believe librarian she's a booknerd. Who loves BBC drama's a girl after my own heart.  I have to say we need more needy heroines in fiction.   Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Review of a Love Like Ours

A sneak peek at an excerpt from A Love Like Ours! Plus, Tressa at Wishful Endings is offering a giveaway for signed copies of the first two books in the Porter Family series -- Undeniably Yours and Meant to Be Mine!Title: A Love Like Ours

Author: Becky Wade

Series: Porter Family book 3

Chapters: 27 plus epilogue

Pages: 352

Genre: Christian Romance

Rating: 5 stars

A Love Like Ours is the third book in the Porter family series, and it's the one that I've most wanted to read. I've wanted to read Jake's story since the first Porter book. I wanted to learn about the scared and troubled Marine.  Jake Porter struggles with PTSD and doesn't think that he's good relationship materaial. Lyndie James is Jake's childhood and thinks he's worth fighting for. What neither one knows is that God has something far greater in mind, than either of them could imagine.

I enjoyed the book getting Jake's back story made understanding him easier. My favorite line from the book and maybe the whole series so far came from chapter 12 page 146, and it's a conversion between Jake and Lyndie's grandfather. It reminds me of a phase my dad and great uncle use to say to each other when I was growing up.

All and all I enjoyed reading A Love Like Ours and I am looking forward to Dru's story next.

Review of Meant to be Mine

Meant to Be Mine by Becky WadeTitle: Meant to be Mine

Author: Becky Wade

Series: A Porter Family Novel book 2

Chapters: 32

Pages: 372

Genre: Christian Romance

Rating: 4 star

Meant to Be Mine is the second book in the Porter family series. It is Ty’s story, Ty had made mistakes in the past but he’s learning from them. He’s also determined to make things right. After being hurt by Ty in the past Celia doesn't know if she can trust him in her life or her heart. She has to be even more careful with letting Ty into her life, because it is not just her heart on the line. But someone else's heart as well. Someone whose heart can be easily broken and hard to be repaired.

In this novel both Ty and Celia have to learn about forgiveness and God’s love and Grace. Under everything there were a few sweet romances and of course a cute kid.

After reading the second novel I can’t wait for the next book Jake’s story. After  reading Undeniably Yours and Meant to be Mine Jake is becoming my favorite Porter and I cannot wait to read his story.

Favorite Books of 2013

Finally and Forever (Katie Weldon Series) 5 stars This book because it is a reminder of my teen years. I first discovered Katie when I read the Christy Miller series. But Katie was always a favorite of mine because I could relate to her more. I was thrilled when she got her own series. Finally and Forever wraps up the series pretty good but leaves it open for another book if the author wanted.

Stealing the Preacher: Karen Witemeyer: 9780764209666: Amazon.com: Books  Just a cute Historical fiction read by one of my favorite Christian Historical fiction author.

Amazon.com: The Rules for Disappearing (Rules, The) (9781423168973): Ashley Elston: Books A cute teen read

Paige Torn Paige Rewritten: A Paige Alder Novel The first two books in the Paige Alder series by my favorite Christian Chick lit author. These books will have you laughing and crying along with the characters. If your like me it will make you want to pick up your Bible as soon as you put the book down for the night.

Loves Awakening by Laura Frantz The second book in the Ballantyne legacy. It was an emotional read  that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. But not as emotional as the first book.  Silas will always be my favorite hero that Laura has written but Jack is a close second.

Amber Stokes upcoming knovel Bleeding Hearts can't wait for it  another emotional historical fiction read, that kept me on the edge of my seat. But so good. Another book that makes you think. I cannot wait to read the prequel and the sequel. Amber has quickly become a favorite author of mine after only one book.

Review of Undeniably Yours

Undeniably Yours (A Porter Family, #1)Title: Undeniably Yours

Author: Becky Wade

Chapters: 24 plus epilogue

Pages: 380

Genre: Christian Romance

Rating: 5 stars

Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade was an awesome read. Bo Porter quickly became one of my favorite heroes. To me Bo is the perfect hero for a novel. He’s a cowboy a strong Christian and a former Marine. As someone whose real life heroes have always been Marines and other members of the Military.
Meg Cole learns throughout the novel that she is not her family name or her past.
I loved the fact that Bo was a simple man who loved horses and wanted to keep the horse farm up and running. Because it was basically his brother’s life line. Other favorite parts of the book was that Bo favorite drink was Dr. Pepper which surprising it’s headquarters is in Texas also there was a reference to one of my favorite country song by my favorite country singer in the book.

Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade has the right balance between cowboys, friendship and most importantly Faith. I cannot wait for Becky Wade’s next book.

Review of My Stubborn Heart

 Title: My Stubborn Heart

Author: Becky Wade

Series: no

Chapters: 23 plus Epilogue

Pages: 343

Genre: Christian Fiction, Christian romance

Rating: 4 ½ stars

Kate Donovan has come with her grandmother to restore the family home. She needs a break from her job as a social worker after losing a client. The handy man that her grandmother hired Matt Jarreau a former Hockey player who has given up hockey after losing his wife to cancer.
I enjoyed My Stubborn Heart the story line was different. Both Matt and Kate were believeable character’s and true to life. There were words used that I wasn’t use to seeing in Christian fiction.  I would have to say that My Stubborn Heart is a book for older reads. But still a good read.
