Sea Glass Cottage by Irene Hannon review

Title:  Sea Glass Cottage

Author: Irene Hannon

Series: Hope Harbor

Genre: Christian contemporary

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher:  Revell

Once again readers are back in Hope Harbor with Sea Glass Cottage by Irene Hannon. Not only is the town charming but the residents are as well, especially Charlie the taco guy. Who always seems to know the right advice to give at the right moment?   I loved visiting with some of my favorites in this one, but I also loved meeting Jack Colby and Christi Reece, these two share a past. Jack's not ready to forgive her, and Christi's' determined to prove she's changed. But when another surprise shows up from Jack's past that leads them to work together might just be the thing that brings them back together.

I love Irene's contemporary's more than I do her suspense because not only does she create life like characters she creates towns that you just want to visit. What I love the most about Irene's books are the faith content throughout the story as well as the happy ending at the end. You just don't know how you’re going to get there even with her Contemporaries.  She doesn't shy away from the hard stuff. And I for one was happy to hear that we are getting at least three more Hope Harbor books. Yay.  I hope you enjoy Christi's and Jack's story as much as I did.

Deadly Ever After Review

Title:  Deadly Ever After

Author: Eva Gates

Chapters: 25

Pages: 298Series: Lighthouse Library Mystery #8

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher: Crooked Lane Books

Deadly Ever After by Eva Gates is the 8th book in The Lighthouse Library mystery series. Lucy has settled into life in Nags Head and her parents are finally accepting her choice when someone from her past shows up to try to get her the change her mind.  And Lucy again finds herself involved in another murder mystery. But at least this time the lighthouse library isn't involved.   For once with this series I did not see the twist coming nor did I figure out who did it before Lucy did.

And I have to say Charles the library cat still remains my favorite character in this series and he once again does it by showing what a good judge of character he is.    But Lucy's, Charles and the rest of the library staff's futures are changing and I can't wait to see where it takes them.

Candy Slain Murder

Title:
Candy Slain Murder

Author:  Maddie Day

Ch 56

Pg:  311

Series: A Country Store Mystery

Genre:  Cozy Mystery

Rating: 3.5 Stars

Publisher: Kensington

Candy Slain Murder is the eighth book in the A Country Store by Maddie Day. And while I did enjoy this one with the Christmas setting unfortunately the mystery fell flat for me because I figured out who did it by the fifth chapter. But still an enjoyable read.

This was a book that gives Beasts back story so it was neat in that regard. But I still don’t why it was included in the villains series.

Twelve Angry Librarians (Cat in the Stacks Mystery)Title: Twelve Angry Librarians

Author: Miranda James

Chapters: 35

Pages: 272

Series: Cat in the Stacks book 8

Genre: cozy mystery

Rating: 4 stars

In Twelve Angry Librarians Charlie and Diesel are back for their eighth mystery.  Charlie is the interim librarian for the college library. With the Southern Academic Libraries Association conference getting ready to be held there Charlie has his hands full. When Charlie's old school nemesis  Gavin Fong is found murdered and Charlie becomes a suspect, but he's soon joined on that list by every librarian that Gavin had come in contact with over the years. Hence the title of the book.

It's up to Charlie to clear his name along with everyone else, but that's going to be easier said than done.

I've always loved mysteries since I was a kid and discovered my first Nancy Drew mystery. As an adult not much has changed though I tend to lean more towards cozies.  The Cat in the Stack cozies have everything a mystery, a cat, a library and a librarians making it the perfect cozy. Diesel tends to be my favorite character he's the one  with the most personality and spirit in the series. And as always I look forward to the next one in the series.

Review of The Orphan's Wish

The Orphan's Wish (Hagenheim, #8)Title: The Orphan's Wish

Author: Melanie Dickerson

Chapters: 34 plus epilogue

Pages: 352

Series: Hagenheim Series book 8

Genre: Christian fairy tale retelling, Christian Teen Historical

Rating: 3.5 stars

The Orphan's wish by Melanie Dickerson is the 8th book in the Hagenheim series Lady Kirsytn is the youngest daughter of the duke of Hageheim, and Aladdin an Orphan from the Holy Land.  Kirstyn is the daughter of character's from The Healer's Apprentice  the first book in this series  as well as the younger sister of characters from book 3 The Fairest Beauty, book 4 The Captive Maiden, book 5 The Princess Spy and book 6 The Golden Braid. So it is best to read this series in order.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would mainly because Aladdin was one of my least favorite Disney movies and I had read the original story that it was based on. Melanie was able to put on own spin on the story and make it her own.  With all of her previous novels in this series and her other fairy tale series her characters have a strong Christian faith. While it wasn't my favorite book of the series it was still good. Readers will see aspects of the Aladdin but it is still a new story because Mrs. Dickerson adds to the story and makes it her own.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fairy tale retelling and Christian teen historical fiction. I would say that this book is appropriate for older teens about 15 or 16 and up.  I look forward to next book in this series which just happens to be a Mulan retelling.
